Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Skid Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of skid-mounted mechanical systems, ensuring seamless integration of components and compliance with industry standards. You will independently handle design packages, interface with clients and vendors, and support fabrication and testing activities.

This role requires strong technical expertise, project ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills to deliver customized, high-performance skid solutions. You will leverage your expertise to manage complex projects, mentor team members, and contribute to advancing our engineering capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform detailed mechanical design and equipment sizing calculations (pumps, piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Design and develop mechanical skid-mounted systems, including layout, structural components, and integration of piping, instrumentation, and other subsystems ensuring mechanical integrity, maintainability, and safety.
  • Prepare detailed equipment specifications, datasheets, material selections, and procurement support.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API, NFPA, ANSI, OSHA).
  • Manage technical coordination with controls/automation, electrical, and fabricators, to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Support fabrication efforts: review shop drawings, participate in design reviews, and perform in-process inspections.
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) when necessary.
  • Lead technical reviews, troubleshooting, and problem-solving during fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure technical deliverables align with project schedules and budgets.
  • Act as the main technical contact with customers on assigned projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering and skid design, ideally with the Life Sciences and Food, Dairy, Beverage and Industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of fluid flow, thermodynamics, and heat/mass transfer principles.
  • Hands-on experience with pumps, valves, piping systems, pressure vessels, and process instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling and drafting software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or similar tools) and familiarity with simulation software.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, and NFPA standards and codes. Familiarity with CRN and CE PED a plus.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, analytical, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Comfortable supporting the presentation of solutions during the sales cycle with a client.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic simulation software and finite element analysis (FEA). Ability to conduct CFD & process simulations and calculations to optimize system performance.
  • Experience managing large-scale engineering projects from concept through completion.
